About Peter Sandbach

Pushing boundaries in communication has always been Peter’s passion. He founded Free Range Communications in 2017 to help individuals and organisations convey their messages with clarity and impact.

Peter’s journey

Before starting his own company, Peter served as Head of Global Communication Training at Roche. There, he established the Roche Academy of Business Communications and trained senior executives and scientists in presenting, storytelling, and media interaction. His role at Roche included positioning its licensing arm as the partner of choice in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

Prior to Roche, Peter was Head of Communication Services at Syngenta, where he directed strategic communication materials, including award-winning annual reports. He also managed communication strategies for controversial issues such as pesticides and genetically modified crops as Head of Issue Management.

Peter’s career in communication began in 1995 at De Facto Consultants in the UK, the pioneering scientific PR agency known for introducing Dolly the cloned sheep to the world. He later led biotechnology communications for Novartis in the UK, initiating the first industry communication programme on genetically modified crops.

Peter holds an honours degree in biology from the University of Durham (UK).
